My dog was spayed and I picked her up this morning from the vets. Never thought to ask about pain relief. Is there anything I can give her? 6 months old.

Just ring the vets and ask them.

Don’t give any medications until consulting a vet or a knowledgeable individual.
Just call the vet, it’s free, and ask about pain meds.

Call your vet; he will give you something. Do NOT ot6c medicate the dog after this surgery…Ask the vet…ASAP.

It’s very important that you contact the vet and get a prescription for pain medication from him. I’m more than certain that pain relief medications for people can be very hazardous to dogs. Don’t risk harming your puppy.

The vet should have given her a large does of pain killer this morning when she had the op, but if he thought she needed more pain killers he would have given you some.
She will be sore tonight but will be a lot better by the morning. And if you feel she is still in pain call the vet and see if they will give you anything.x

Chamomile is one of the safest herbs for all ages of creatures. Chamomile offers mild pain relief as well as healing properties. You might try some commercial herbal chamomile tea (make sure chamomile flowers are the only ingredient), cooled, of course.
Otherwise, give your vet a call.

Some vets dispense pain meds to be given at home post-sterilizing but most don’t, especially for puppies. It is important that the animal not frolic or run until the incision is healing, and since you can’t make a dog understand that it needs to take it slow, pain is the best way to limit its activity.

I work in a vet as a nurse and we do up to 25 de sexing surgeries a day. We give all animals a dose of long acting pain relief at the time of surgery and very very rarely do we ever discharge a patient with take home pain relief. We would only ever send pain meds home if it was a difficult or complicated Spey. Routine surgery does not require extra pain relief, if your vet thought she needed it they would have given it to you when you picked her up, just keep her quiet and comfortable today and she should be pretty much back to her usual self tomorrow. If your still concerned about her in 24 hrs then call your vet for a check up appt which should be no hassle for your vet and free of charge for you as it is related to the surgical procedure. I’d be fairly confident she’ll be ok, she’s probably just feeling slightly woozy post GA, and a bit sulky and sorry for herself today but it should pass fairly quickly.

when my dog got spayed out vet told us to give her childrens aleve so we mixed that with some peanutbutter and gave it to her and it seemed to take the pain away for a couple of hours but we still sat with her and petted her because getting spayed does hurt alot so the best thing to do is to confort your dog also and dont let her stretch out the wound by jumping on couchs or beds. i slept on the floor with my dog for the first week so she didnt need to jump up or down. and dont let her lick the wound for the 1st week but then you can eventually let her because it will start to itch.
