I am 37 weeks pregnant haven’t been having painsin my lower stomach and ever so present lower back pain. I was told that I was dilated to a two last Thursday. Since my water isn’t broken should i go to the hospital. I just don’t know if I can wait any longer for my doctor appointment?

Call your doctor and tell them your symptoms. They’d know better what to tell you than Yahoo Answerers would…

Walk around till you have to stop with each contraction. Then go to the hospital:) Congratulations:)

It can be, but back pain and cramping is completely expected throughout an entire pregnancy, and is normal for late pregnancy.
So, it’s not specifically a sign of impending labor. It just means you’re nearing the end (which might still be three weeks away).
You go to the hospital if you are bleeding, or having horrible cramps/contractions that are coming every three minutes, or if your water has broken. Anything else and they’ll check you and send you right back home.

Yes, these are symptoms of early labor. Since your water hasn’t broken yet I wouldn’t go to the hospital. If you’re concerned about anything, call your doctor.

I am 40 wks now and have been cramping for days now. I had a doctors appointment yesterday and nothing. I would say unless you are having steady contractions (about 5-7 min apart and lasting 30sec-1min each time) I would wait it out. If in serious doubt, call your doctor or the labor and delivery desk at the hospital. They can usually tell by your voice if its serious or not. My guess is you are in early labor, or false labor. But until you start experiencing strong contractions I wouldn’t be worried. Some women will be dilated weeks before they go into labor.

you very well could be in labor. If you are really in pain go to the hospital. The worst thing is they send you back home.

I had back labor with my first child for a week…..I was dialated to 3 that whole week, and my water never did break on its own, the doc had to break it, so I wouldnt wait on your water to break, by the time it does you may night have time to get to the hospital! If your back pain continues or worsens or your contractions in your belly become more consistant then call your doc, tell em whats going on, they may want you to come in. Congrats!!!
